|| Augusta Longbottom walks down the aisle of the Janus Thickey Ward at St Mungo's with her grandson Neville. When Ron calls out to Neville, she greets his four friends graciously, peering at Harry and sticking out her shrivelled, claw-like hand for him to shake. Augusta tells his friends that Neville is a good boy but lacks his father's talent, jerking her head in the direction of the two beds at the end of the ward. She is horrified to realise that Neville hasn't told his friends about his parents and admonishes her grandson, accusing him of being ashamed. Augusta tells the group that Neville's parents were tortured to insanity by Lord Voldemort's supporters during the first wizarding war. She sounds weary when Alice Longbottom shuffles over to the group and gives Neville an empty Drooble's Best Blowing Gum wrapper. When her daughter-in-law wanders away, she tells Neville to throw the wrapper away, sure that he has been given enough of them to paper his bedroom by now. She and Neville leave the ward, needing to get back to their home.
