Following the graduation of Oliver Wood, captain and Keeper for the Gryffindor Quidditch team since Harry's first year, the team are holding tryouts for the position of Keeper. Angelina Johnson, the new team captain, requires every member of the team to attend the tryouts, which are to be held on the first Friday of term at 5 o'clock.
Ron Weasley joins the team as Keeper following the tryouts. Angelina tells Harry that Ron's Keeping skills aren't great, but hopes with some training he will improve.
