| “ | Madame Maxime exits the Beauxbatons Carriage first, dressed head to foot in black satin, with a necklace of opals gleaming at her throat. Her hair is worn in a shining knob at the base of her neck. She smiles as she walks towards Professor Dumbledore, and extends her hand in greeting. She accepts Dumbledore's suggestion that she and the students enter the castle to warm up but appears concerned about the horses. She is sceptical when Dumbledore tells her that the Hogwarts Care of Magical Creatures teacher will be looking after the horses, and appears doubtful that he will be able to manage them, not yet having met Hagrid. Maxime leads her students into the castle before the Durmstrang students arrive, as they want to warm up after their journey. | ” |

| “ | Madame Maxime is one of the judges for the Triwizard Tournament. She enters the Great Hall after all the students have been seated with the other teachers. When she appears in the room, the pupils from Beauxbatons leap to their feet, and do not resume their seats until Madame Maxime has taken her place at Dumbledore's left-hand side at the staff table.
Madame Maxime and her students are to sleep in the Beauxbatons carriage for the duration of their stay at Hogwarts. On Hallowe'en, Madame Maxime enters the Entrance Hall with her students, and organises them into a line so they can enter their names into the Goblet of Fire. Once every pupil has entered their names, she leads them back out of the hall and into the grounds towards the Beauxbatons carriage. When the time comes to go to the castle for the Hallowe'en feast and the announcement of the Triwizard champions, Maxime emerges from the carriage followed by her students. She talks to Hagrid briefly, before making her way up to the castle, accompanied by the game-keeper. Maxime looks tense and expectant after the Hallowe'en feast draws to a close, waiting for the Goblet of Fire to reveal its decision. |

She thinks Harry is lying about not entering his name, and suggests that Dumbledore must have made a mistake with the Age Line. Maxime is unhappy that both Cedric and Harry are to be allowed to compete in the Tournament, but cannot think of an alternative solution. She declines Dumbledore's offer of a night cap, putting her arm around Fleur and leading her swiftly out of the room. | ” |

| “ | Madame Maxime wears a flowing gown of lavender silk to the Yule Ball. She applauds politely as the champions take to the dance floor with their partners for the opening dance. After dinner, Madame Maxime joins Professor Dumbledore for the waltz. She moves very gracefully for a woman so large.
Madame Maxime joins Hagrid in the gardens; the pair sit on a stone bench, watching the water in the moonlight. She appears confused when Hagrid starts to talk about his parents, and her tone becomes icy when he suggests that she is a half-giant, like him. Madame Maxime sounds outraged and insists to Hagrid that she merely has big bones. She storms away from Hagrid, greatly offended. |

The minister looks stern and does not talk to her, and Maxime concentrates on her plate, her eyes looking suspiciously red. | “ | Madame Maxime has tea with Hagrid just before Harry, Ron and Hermione go to visit the gamekeeper. She and Hagrid appear to be back on good terms. Hagrid mentions that Olympe might accompany him on the job he has to do for Dumbledore over the summer holidays.
Madame Maxime attends the Leaving Feast at Hogwarts with her Beauxbatons students. They are encouraged by Professor Dumbledore to embrace the ties promoted by the Triwizard Tournament, and are invited back to Hogwarts should they ever want or need to come. Madame Maxime is helped by Hagrid to prepare the Beauxbatons carriage for its journey from Hogwarts, backing the giant horses into their harness. |
