Nymphadora Tonks is an Auror and a member of the Order of the Phoenix. She is a Metamorphmagus, meaning she can change her appearance at will.
She is the daughter of a pure-blood witch, Andromeda Black, and a Muggle-born, Edward "Ted" Tonks. Tonks later marries Remus Lupin and the couple has a son, Teddy Lupin (short for Edward, as he was named after her late father).
Nymphadora Tonks is a witch and a qualified Auror. She has a pale, heart-shaped face and dark twinkling eyes. Commonly known as Tonks, she is notable for being a Metamorphmagus.
Tonks and Lupin carry Harry's trunk and Hedwig's cage to the door of number twelve, Grimmauld Place. Once they have entered the house the members of the Order of the Phoenix are directed to a room off the hall by Mrs Weasley, where a meeting has just begun.
After the meeting, when the other Order members have left the house, Lupin, Tonks and Mrs Weasley magically seal the many locks and bolts on the front door. Tonks accidentally trips over the umbrella stand in the hallway and falls flat on the ground. She wakes the portrait of Mrs Black, who starts screaming abuse at the occupants of her family home. Tonks apologises over and over again as Lupin and Mrs Weasley try to shut the curtains back over the old woman, and drags the huge, heavy troll's leg back off the floor.
Tonks is sitting in the kitchen at number twelve, Grimmauld Place when Harry enters the room. Her hair has changed colour, and is now blonde and curly. She greets Harry sleepily, yawning as she tells him that she has been awake all night, and knocks over a chair as she attempts to pull one out from the table. She tells Lupin that Rufus Scrimgeour, an Auror, has been asking her and Kingsley Shacklebolt funny questions recently. She tells those in the kitchen that she is too tired to do night duty the next day, and is replaced by Arthur Weasley. Tonks is certain that the hearing will go well for Harry, knowing that Amelia Bones is a fair person, and pats him on the arm.
Tonks sprints into the Death Chamber with Sirius, Mad-Eye Moody, Tonks and Kingsley. They rain spells down on the Death Eaters, hurrying down the stone steps towards the sunken floor of the room. She sends a Stunning Spell at Lucius Malfoy, protecting Harry from the Death Eater, before focusing on Bellatrix Lestrange. Tonks is later hit with a spell by Bellatrix, and falls from halfway up the stone steps.
Tonks attends the funeral of Albus Dumbledore at Hogwarts. Her hair is miraculously returned to a vivid pink, and she appears to be holding hands with Remus Lupin.
