"A gigantic stadium is built for the Quidditch World Cup, seating a hundred thousand people. The pitch is surrounded by immense gold walls, and is big enough to fit ten cathedrals comfortably inside it. As a precaution, the entire stadium has Muggle-Repelling Charms placed on it."

From the Story

Discovered in Book4, Chapter 8, The Quidditch World Cup

"A Ministry task force of five hundred wizards has been working on the stadium all year, in preparation for the Quidditch World Cup.

The Top Box of the stadium is small, and located at the highest point of the stadium, situated exactly half-way between the Quidditch goalposts. About twenty purple-and-gilt chairs stand in two rows within it.

Everything in the stadium is suffused with a mysterious golden light, which seems to come from the stadium itself. At either end of the pitch stand three goal hoops, fifty feet high, and there is a gigantic blackboard immediately opposite the Top Box, flashing advertisements across the pitch. Gold writing dashes across the board, as though an invisible giant's hand is scrawling upon it and then wiping it off again. During the Quidditch match the blackboard displays the score instead of advertisements.
