Throughout the books, Ron has two wands. The first is an Ash and Unicorn Hair wand, which gets broken by the Whomping Willow.

"Ron’s wand is a hand-me-down, which once belonged to his older brother Charlie. Ron’s wand is broken when the flying Ford Anglia crashes into the Whomping Willow on the first day of term."

"Ron attempts to repair his wand with Spellotape, but it continues to malfunction, and produce smoke or sparks. When Ron attempts to curse Draco Malfoy his broken wand backfires and the curse hits Ron instead, causing him to belch slugs for the rest of the day."
